2019/11/9 - trying to sail the Round the Island Regatta

Before the scheduled start time we already had two reefs in the main & winds of 20 to 30 mph. The regatta was canceled (the committee boat left). Added a third reef, but could not make headway north against the strong wind. Tried to motor back against the wind (at 2 knots with winds up to 36 mph) until the motor overheated. Sailed on 'mini jib east-west between Key Biscayne and Coconut Grove while waiting about two hours for the tow boat (other boats needed help more urgently than we did, including a "cigarette" on fire). Overall, we had a nice day anyway, including seeing some dolphins and an outrigger canoe race.
